Advantages of an ACT (Advanced Composting Technologies) Forced Air Composting Facility

Cost-Effectiveness
The one-time cost to build a permanent structure is an investment. When compared to the continually rising cost of incineration our systems have a payback period of 5 years or less.

Ease of Use
ACT has developed a proprietary design that makes our facilities turn-key and easy use. Specially designed control panel provides easy and optimum process control. The floors, doors, aeration, etc… are all rugged enough to work with standard farm equipment. Our composting structures are built to last a minimum of 20 years.

Leachate Control
Unique closed-loop system provides filtered leachate collection and recirculation eliminating potential mess and reducing odors.

Ten Years Proven Experience
ACT has been building facilities on farms for over 10 years. We will plan, design, permit, and build the facility from start to finish. ACT offers ongoing technical support to all of our customers.

Short Cycle Time
Forced air composting can transform animal mortalities into marketable compost. Poultry composting takes as little as 45-60 days to completely compost. Due to their larger size, swine typically take 60-75 days and require grinding.

Temperature Performance
Forced air composting will consistently produce temperatures above 150° F for at least 15 consecutive days. Higher temperatures such as these are only possible in the continuously aerobic environment created in our proprietary forced air facilities.

Odor Control
Odor in the facility is minimal. When managed properly, unpleasant odors are practically eliminated. The aerobic environment that the facility creates is the key to odor control.

Pathogen Reduction
The ACT mortality management system has been approved for use on poultry and swine farms by all necessary STATE and FEDERAL agencies in NC. The higher temperatures achieved by our facilities are due to the increased microbial activity and lead to complete pathogen kill.

Environmental Stewardship
ACT’s forced air facility uses no fossil fuels and minimal amounts of electricity. Our proprietary closed loop system is designed to protect the environment and reduce our dependency on fossil fuels. Keeping our air and water clean today and for future generations.

Valuable End Product
ACT’s forced air technology consistently produces a marketable quality compost which is completely safe for on-farm use as a nutrient-rich soil amendment.
